Multi-Port/Segment trace playback
Virtually all protocol analyzers have the ability to capture and playback trace files they have captured. The key missing function of these protocol analyzers is that it they typically provide only a single port of playback. IT managers with the need to see how their networks and./or network devices handle "live" captured traffic will have difficulty in seeing results with traffic being played from only a single port or segment.

Within each of FlameThrower¡¯s ports is a buffer that can hold up to 2040 Ethernet frames. Users can manually load this buffer through our GUI or Java scripting language. We also have the facility of importing any enc trace file (up to the buffer maximum). This trace file can be raw, or filtered to contain the exact traffic pattern the user wants to transmit. Since each port is independent you can have the same file or different files for each port creating very complex transmission and test models. Play back can be single bursts or set to continuous for long term testing. If a user wanted to do this with general protocol analyzers, even over just a few ports, the cost would be staggering.
